The Department was founded in 1999 / 2000 and includes a number of highly qualified and experienced teaching faculty and supporting technical assistants.  The academic program, which totals 135 credit hours, includes university, college, and departmental compulsory and elective courses. They cover a variety of fields such as graphic design studios, theory and history, typography, etching and printing, digital design, illustration, Arabic and Latin calligraphy, photography, etc. 

The library includes a large number of references, recent books, and periodicals covering graphic design. The program was accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2002. The Department aims to provide the best education to the student with all the necessary knowledge and creative design skills required to master the profession.
