About the Department
In alignment with Philadelphia University's vision and mission to keep pace with scientific and technological developments, and in recognition of the importance of integration across scientific disciplines and their applications, the Department of Mathematics was established within the Faculty of Science at Philadelphia University in 2003. The Department offers a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
The Department follows a comprehensive study plan covering a diverse range of mathematical disciplines, including pure mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and probability. The study plan undergoes periodic review and revision to ensure that it remains aligned with scientific and technological advancements and continues to enhance the quality of educational outcomes. The most recent update to the study plan was made in 2026, with the aim of further developing its content and strengthening its alignment with recent advances in mathematics and its applications.
The Department also contributes to supporting the University's academic programs by offering a range of mathematics courses to students in the Faculties of Engineering, Information Technology, Pharmacy, and Business. This contributes to fostering interdisciplinary integration and highlights the fundamental role of mathematics in providing the scientific foundations required in a wide range of academic and professional fields.
The Department is staffed by qualified academic faculty members specializing in various branches of mathematics, with strong academic credentials, professional expertise, and a commitment to educational responsibilities. Faculty members are dedicated to delivering high-quality education, providing academic guidance and advice, and monitoring students' academic progress. These efforts are supported through direct communication during lectures and scheduled office hours throughout the week, as well as through educational platforms and other available communication channels, thereby fostering an interactive and supportive learning environment.
In recent years, the Department of Mathematics at Philadelphia University has experienced notable growth in student enrollment, reflecting increasing interest in the discipline and its academic and professional significance. Graduates of the Department have opportunities to pursue careers in various fields, particularly school education, as well as other sectors that require quantitative analysis, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills. In addition, a number of graduates pursue postgraduate studies at local and international universities, enabling them to deepen their specialized knowledge and further develop their research and academic capabilities.
