The Department of Applied Chemistry was established at the beginning of the 2025 academic year as one of the academic departments of the Faculty of Science, in response to the growing need for applied science specializations in the local and regional labor markets. Since its establishment, the department has played a fundamental role in teaching general, organic, physical, and analytical chemistry courses to students in the Faculty of Science and other faculties at the university.

The continued development of this department is part of the Faculty of Science's vision to keep pace with rapid developments in the fields of chemistry and chemical industries, and to provide the market with qualified graduates who possess the theoretical knowledge and practical skills that enable them to work in laboratories, research centers, and factories, as well as to pursue graduate studies in various chemistry specializations.

The Department of Applied Chemistry awards a Bachelor's degree in this specialization, where the curriculum seeks to qualify students in the theoretical and experimental aspects of chemistry, with a focus on industrial, medical, and environmental applications. The curriculum also places special emphasis on practical training through equipped laboratories, training in the use of modern scientific instruments, as well as providing students with critical thinking and scientific analysis skills.
