🔗 Library Online Catalogue
The automated catalogs available at the library entrance, as indicated by the guidance panel next to them, provide comprehensive information about books, including the author's name, book title, publication details, and classification code. The classification code helps users locate the book on the shelf, as shown in the example below.
To search the library's catalog system, follow these steps:
Enter your search query and click the Search button to display the results. Record the classification code and proceed to the relevant book hall to locate the book on the shelf.
For more detailed results, select "Advanced Search" to refine your query further.
Once you find the book's classification number in the search results, proceed to the designated hall where the book is located. Search for the book in its assigned section without disturbing the arrangement of other books on the shelves. Books are systematically arranged in ascending order, starting from 000 to 999.
After retrieving the required book, visit the Circulation Desk with your university ID card to complete the borrowing process.

Application form for entering electronic databases (outside the university campus) - student
The databases and periodicals section’s mission is to provide the accessibility to a distinctive electronic content that meet the customers’ different needs in the light of the technological and communicative revolution and the increasing need to keep up with this development in a way that serve the cognitive fields related to the academic sections in the university, as well as, serve and promote scientific research.
To achieve this mission, the library subscribes to a number of world class databases and electronic services. These include:

● Science Direct Databases:
One of the largest e-databases on the internet in terms of the number of referred researches and published articles. It is issued by Elsevier publisher and it contains about 2500 refereed scientific journals in full text.
To ensure the best services, the library and information sources subscribe to “Freedom Collection” which offers full text access of published articles in Science Direct since 2008 according to the agreement between Philadelphia University and Elsevier Publisher.
These articles are classified into four main categories: humanistic and social sciences, health science, biological science, and engineering and physics science. These four main categories are divided into 24 subsets to serve the different cognitive areas related to the academic disciplines in the university.
This database provides the ability to obtain a full text articles in different forms (as a web page, a PDF, or printed). You can access this database within the university campus using this link:http://www.sciencedirect.com/
You can also use this database from outside the university campus by having a username and password that you can get once you fill in an Username and Password Order Form and send it to the Library’s databases and periodicals section.

The library subscribes to a number of databases which are presented by the global publisher Ebscohost which ensure the electronic accessibility to more than 12.000 journals in addition to news, statistical reports and book reviews in different disciplines such as interior design, science, arts, Engineering, law, pharmacy, information technology, administration, finance, economics, nursing, communication, and advertising.

● E-marefa Database for Arabic Academic Journals
Leading Arab Electronic full text database offers access to full text articles from peer-reviewed journals published by many of the Arab world’s most prestigious academic publishers, Contains more than 1373 Academic and statistical journals issued by various bodies (universities, research centers, public statistical departments, central banks, scientific associations, regional organizations) in the Arab world in three languages which are Arabic, English and French. Marefa database provides 150.000 articles and statistical reports. This database involves over 280 universities, research centers, statistical apparatus and regional organizations in the Arab world in 19 countries. These bodies supply their journals and publications to Marefa database on regular and continuous basis.
Marefa database encompasses diverse disciplines and scientific specialties whereas each specialty has its own database as follows:

E-marefa database for Arab Theses and Dissertations: This service provides the full text of Master and PhD theses and dissertations produced in the Arab World. In order to fulfill its mission, the Library provides the following services:
Loan and Photocopying

The Library Collection is for the benefit of all the University staff and students. Staff Members and students may borrow library materials according to the following rules:
Library materials may be borrowed upon presentation of a current University ID.
Staff members may borrow 12 publications for the duration of one semester. These publications must be returned or renewed at the end of each semester.

Students may borrow 3 publications for a period of two weeks renewable for a further two-week period only.
University administrators may borrow 3 publications for the duration of one semester.
Part-time lecturers and lab supervisors may borrow 5 publications for the duration of one semester. The publications must be returned or renewed at the end of the semester.
Students may not borrow additional books while having late returns.
References, periodicals, special collections, manuscripts and non-print materials such as disks, CDs, microfilms, and videotapes are not available for loan except in special cases and with the Library Director's permission.
The date due is stamped on the date slip on the back cover of the book. Borrowed publications must be returned to the Circulation Desk before the end of the loan period.
The automated circulation system charges a fine of 250 fils per book per day for late returns.

The user will be responsible for overdue charges if the materials are not returned to the Circulation Desk before the due date.
Night Circulation for periodicals and reserved collection begins half an hour before the end of the circulation period, and expires the next morning.
Non-print materials such as CD-ROMs, cassettes, tapes, etc., may be used inside the Library. However, if duplicate copies are available, these may be borrowed for three days.
The Reservation Section is located in the Circulation Desk area. Textbooks or materials of special importance may be reserved. However, reservations are subject to change according to the recommendations of the University Teaching Staff. Both students and staff members may borrow reserved materials for one night only.
Borrowed materials may be recalled before the end of the loan period if required by another Library user. If the required book is out on loan, it may be recalled by filling the Recall Slip at the Circulation Desk. Recalls usually take from one week to ten days. The recaller will be notified by phone or mail when the item arrives.

Theses, research papers, graduation projects, atlases, periodicals, directories, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc., are not vailable for loan and must be used inside the Library.
*Photocopying*
Two photocopying machines are available: one on the First Floor near the On-Line Catalogues Area, and another on the Third Floor in the Periodicals Reference Desk. Students and non-staff members are required to pay 20 fils per page. The service is free for academic staff
User Guidance
The Library staff members are available in the reading areas. They can assist users in locating bibliographies on topics of their interest by searching the Library Online Catalogues.
Reference librarians are also available on the Third & Fourth Floor in the main areas of the periodicals and electronic databases. They can direct users to appropriate sources; assist in searching for a specific topic, article or document; and help to trace bibliographic citations and statistics, or locate publications.
Always ask the reference librarian before deciding that the Library does not have the required material or information, or that the Library collection does not fulfill your requirements.
The reference librarian also performs computer searches in hundreds of commercially produced data-bases. A comprehensive bibliography or statistical information can be traced in much less time than it takes for a manual search of printed materials.

The Library contains more than 127511 material, including: books, collections, references, theses, graduation projects, governmental publications, directories, series, atlases, maps, yearbooks, encyclopedias, dvd`s, etc… in various languages. In addition to over 155 subscribed periodicals in Arabic and English, more than 13306 volumes of periodicals back issues, and over 4024 accompanying materials (CDs, DVDs, cassettes, disks, videotapes, transparencies, etc…), the Library collections cover all areas of knowledge especially those related to the University colleges and specializations including: Humanities, Literature, Engineering, Arts, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance & Banking, Administration, Management, Accounting, Law,Pharmacy, Nursing, Tourism, Hotels, and Hospital Administration, etc…
