International Research Collaboration

🧬

The Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering keeps pace with modern developments in human genome research and rare diseases through collaboration with international and local scientific research centers

🤝

Academic and Research Collaboration

In harmony with the mission of Philadelphia University and the mission of the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering regarding encouraging scientific research and serving the local community, the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering collaborates with German universities (Leipzig, Tübingen, and Erlangen), American universities (Texas and Columbia), and other local universities (Mutah and Yarmouk), as well as the Royal Medical Services / Queen Rania Al-Abdullah Hospital to identify genes and mutations causing rare diseases affecting the nervous and muscular systems and immunodeficiency diseases in Jordanian society. Identifying these mutations contributes to understanding these diseases, helps doctors design targeted treatments for individuals, and guides families on ways to prevent recurrence in successive generations.

Genetic Database

The completion of establishing a database of genetic variants and disease-causing mutations has been announced as part of the computational pipeline for analyzing DNA and RNA sequences resulting from Next Generation Sequencing technology. It should be noted that researchers at the university are ready to collaborate with specialized doctors from both the public and private sectors to identify mutations in difficult cases.
