Committees Tasks


1. Syllabus and Coordination Committee

This Committee is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Suggestion the syllabus plan for the curriculum.
  • Coordinating and editing exams according to the planned syllabus.
  • Informing the center's administration of any obstacle concerning the course and suggestion proper solutions.
  • Preparing the reports concerning this committee and sending a copy to the Quality Assurance Committee.

2. Quality Assurance Committee:

This Committee is assigned with the following tasks:

  • Following up the Quality Assurance Council's meetings.
  • Implementing the orders and instructions issued from the council.
  • Submitting reports concerning quality assurance to the Language Center's director.
  • Keeping documents in special files for this committee.

3. Community Service Committee:

  • Strengthening antimate and social relations between the academic and administrative staff through reacting to different social and personal occasions for each member.
  • Establishing friendly and cooperative relations with the surrounding local community through carrying out activities, courses as well as scientific and educational seminars, in addition to other appropriate activities.
  • Participating in supporting the local community financially morally as a manifestation of university's role in the development of the local community.
  • Preparing specific reports concerning the committee's activities and submit thing a copy to the quality assurance committee.

4. Scientific Research Committee

This Committee is responsible for the following tasks:

  1. Forming research committees and encouraging the teaching staff to prepare researches.
  2. Uploading the accomplished researches on the website and informing the teaching staff about their importance
  3. Providing the Quality Assurance Committee with a report about the number of published researches and their types.

5. Discipline Committee

This Committee is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Investigating with students, having complaints against them, in regard with violating the listed rules and instructions in the students' guide book.
  • Executing punishment on the student according to the instructions.
  • Presenting a written report of the proper punishment to the Center's administration.

6. Electronic Site Committee:

This committee is concerned with updating and enhancing and following up the Language center's website and ensuring that the information provided is correct.   It also responsible for the following tasks:

  • Checking the state of the Language center's building to make sure that it is in a good condition by checking the electricity, lights , chairs, heating and painting that may negatively affect both  students and the teaching staff
  • Following up the repairs with the maintaince center.
  • Submitting a report to the Language center's director.

7. Placement test committee

This Committee is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Preparing and supervising the implementation of the placement test.
  • Coordinating with teaching staff concerning distributing the tasks of photocopying and packing of the exams.
  • Supervising the process of correcting the exam paper and editing marks.
  • Submitting a detailed report of the students' results to the language Center’s director including exams percentage and the number of the student who fail, pass, or who are absent.

8. The translation committee at the Language center aims at

  • Translating texts that will be downloaded on the language center web site
  • Translating the language center’s documents and reports when necessary
  • Help in translating from English to Arabic and vice versa when contacting non Arabic speaking organizations
  • Translating the documents given by the vice president of academic affairs  in cooperation with other teaching staff members in the center when necessary 

9. The Curricular and Non-Curricular Development Committee

Recognizing the importance of providing educational activities that enrich and broaden student experiences as an integral part of the curriculum as well as beyond the curriculum. The Curricular and Non-Curricular Development Committee aims at the development of co-Curricular and extracurricular programs in accordance with the policies established by the university. The committee will review the diversity of developmental education methodologies, address any inequities and opportunities for improvement, and identify best practices that result in excellent achievements.

Aims: The committee aims at 

  • Providing the greatest room for students to develop, giving them the most comprehensive and the richest learning experience.
  • Enhancing communication among students.
  • Forging the team spirit of the student body and the students’ sense of belonging to the university.
  • Providing students with a balanced development on knowledge, ability, attitude and values, so as to realize our objective in education.
  • Initiating students’ multi-intelligence and leadership skills.
  • Building up students’ self-esteem and self-confidence

 

10. The English Placement Test Committee

Our mission

Our mission is to provide a secure, welcoming environment that facilitates students’ access to education and progress toward their educational and career goals.

Aims

The purpose of Placement Test committee at Philadelphia is to place students in the courses most appropriate to their level of preparation.

By administering placement testing to incoming students, with caring staff in a secure environment, we give students a chance to understand their current level of skill in the areas of grammar, reading and vocabulary. Using their test scores, students are advised to take classes appropriate for their skill level, increasing their chances to have a successful university experience.
